Behind The Lens:

I grew up always being artistic in some way, whether it was coloring, painting, drawing, etc; I really enjoyed learning about art. Even though I have always been interested in taking photos, I didn't start taking it seriously until I assisted in taking my cousin's wedding photos and got into editing and graphic design, that I knew there was something there.

In 2005, I started taking a certification course and really fell into it right away, I was in love! My husband supported me in the decision of wanting to be a photographer and assisted me in lugging all of my equipment around to photo shoots. I also spent two years at Shawnee State University in the Fine Arts department where I had photos published. My work has also been featured by the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life booth at the Scioto County Fair as well as on the Shawnee State Lodge and Convention website.

I am interested in different subjects including portraiture, landscapes, urban, florals , music, night photography, and much more. I feel that anyone can take a photo of these things, but it takes a lot of skill to take portraits. It’s a lot more difficult than sticking a subject somewhere and pointing a camera at them, but the challenge of photography is the part I thrive on.

Imogen Cunningham (famous photographer) said “The thing that’s fascinating about portraiture is that nobody is alike.” Not only is everyone unique, but they are constantly changing. Photography allows you to record each detail of a moment in someone’s life. That very moment can be gone in a flash! I am a photographer that wants to capture those moments and be able to provide people with the memories that they can cherish for years to come!

ABOUT YOUR SESSION(FAQs)

Q: Do you have a studio?

A: Currently, no. I am what you would consider a freelance photographer but do plan on owning a studio someday.

I prefer to take photos outdoors in natural lighting and I do all of my work on location so the possibilities are endless. If you prefer to use a backdrop, that will be no problem. We could always do indoors or we could take the backdrops outdoors! It depends on your style.

Sticking with the natural theme, I try not to use a lot of props and let nature be my backdrops but you are more than welcome to bring whatever you like with you to the photo shoot, whatever makes you comfortable!
