Plainsboro Needs a Supermarket

Plainsboro, NJ needs a super market to serve its 23,000 citizens.

Plainsboro is home to approximately 23,000 residents, located in the heart of New Jersey with direct access to route 1, one of the main arteries between New York City and Philadelphia. Our town is home to many large corporations and organizations, including Novo Nordisk, Bristol Myers Squibb, Siemens, the Princeton Plainsboro University Medical Center and Princeton University. Although Plainsboro has 23,000 residents, 17,500 daytime employees and a trade area population of 390,000 we have not had a supermarket since January of 2013 when the SuperFresh supermarket closed its doors.

Since that date, Plainsboro no longer has a super market and residents have desperately been waiting for a new grocery store to come to their town. Currently during rush hour the nearest super market is 30 minutes away. The major’s office is receiving calls from residents on a regular basis asking if there is any news on a super market. Our township administrator, has said that “The loss of the grocery store has generated more of an outcry from our citizens than anything I can recall in my 21 years of service to the people of Plainsboro”.

Last year the Plainsboro Plaza was bought by Onyx Equities and the new owners are planning to start a major renovation project of the shopping center within the next few weeks. Improvements include a new façade, parking lot circulation and new landscaping.

We urge everybody to like our page. With our site we want to provide a message to all supermarket chains and show the real need there is. Please add your own comments as you like!
