Pleasantville Community Church - (814) 589-7526

Rev. Shawn Jacobson, pastor ... with the vision to reach people with the gospel by showing them the hope we have in Christ Jesus.

Pleasantville Community Church is a non-denominational church with an emphasis on holy living -- choosing to focus on a deeper walk with the Lord and making choices that will honor Him and not conflict with the closeness He wants us to enjoy with us.

Here's what's scheduled for each week.

Sunday -- A blended service that includes both contemporary and traditional elements starts at 10:45 a.m. Sunday featuring a time of praise and worship through music as well as passionate preaching based on the Word of God. The service is preceded by Sunday school classes for nursery-age children, grade-schoolers, teens and adults. An informal service is held at 6:00 p.m. and may feature a round-table discussion, pastor-led Bible study, guest speaker, Christian comedy or music video, faith-based movie, or, sometimes in nice weather, devotions and music around the camp fire at the church's picnic pavilion.

Wednesday -- This is family night at Pleasantville Community Church! At 6:30 p.m., activities for grade-schoolers and adults take place. Recycled Disciples CLUB (an acronym for "Children Leading Us to Believe") is a fast-paced hour of fun, learning and activities. Crafted in such a way to hold children's attention, this program features skits, puppets and music that focus on scriptural themes pointing to the evening's Bible lesson. Children learn about God while having fun with their friends; a snack also is included. Meanwhile, adults gather for Bible study and discussion, closing their time together with a time of prayer.

Thursday -- Currently on hiatus for the summer and due to re-start in September, the youth group meets in Pastor Shawn's living room at 7:00 p.m. The teens' gathering is pretty flexible, not following a strict order. Sometimes they take part in a Bible study, sometimes they work through a book with a relevant theme and related scriptures, and sometimes they just talk about what's going on in their lives.

Each month, there is a men's breakfast group, a women's group and, on the first Friday, FAN Night -- that's when everyone meets at the church at 6:00 p.m. for a tureen dinner, after which those who have committee meetings do business and those who don't have committee meetings just enjoy each other's company.

Although the church is in Pleasantville and people attend from the "Hilltop," people also travel from as far away as the Tidioute, Titusville, Hydetown, Centerville, Spartansburg, Grand Valley and Townville areas. They feel it's worth the drive to this friendly, little church.

Come and visit us at Pleasantville Community Church. We think you'll be "Pleasant"-ly surprised.
