Dear Friends,
As you may know, a citizens' initiative will appear on the Youngstown primary ballot on May 6. The Community Bill of Rights, if passed, will establish our inalienable rights to clean air and clean water and protect our families' safe drinking water in Youngstown. Sadly, hydro-fracturing threatens our health and safety by poisoning our groundwater and air, triggering earthquakes, and using our rivers as an industrial dumping ground.
The volunteer Community Bill of Rights Committee (CBRC) formed to make sure the sovereign voice of Youngstown residents is heard on this critical issue. It should not be up to seven members of City Council and the mayor to decide whether we assume the health risks, environmental damage, and financial liability of endless "fraccidents."
