Putnam County Fire & EMS is a full-service EMS ambulance provider which is licensed to operate by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Operations (DEMO). As a part of the Fire Service we are also regulated by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and State Fire Marshall’s Office which is overseen by the State Comptroller. We are subject to random inspection by these State agencies and one of the comments that was written by a State Inspector during our last DEMO inspection was “Putnam County is a model of excellence” as our organization received an “Exemplary” rating. The two Fire Station locations that we staff were recently rated by the Insurance Service Organization (ISO). These same two locations obtained two of the top ISO ratings in the County which directly impacts homeowner Fire insurance rates in these areas. Fire & EMS works very closely with the Chief of Emergency Operations & Preparedness (Chief Quin Romay) as he plays an instrumental role in Fire Service Operations in conjunction with his other Fire &Emergency Management duties. The Administrative offices are located at 410 S. Hwy 19. The administrative office number is 329-0892 and for billing information the number is 329-2207.
We provide speakers for civic organizations, schools, businesses, and private groups. Demonstrations can be tailored for your specific needs. Please remember that any speaker or demonstration that may be scheduled is subject to change or postponement as most of these events are handled by on-duty personnel that are subject to emergency call and response. Please contact the administrative office phone number for details.
Putnam County Fire & EMS historically has been a third-service, Public Safety EMS model until 2009. At that time by vote of the Putnam County Board of County Commissioners, Putnam County EMS became Putnam County Fire & EMS. As a result, we have been tasked with additional Firefighting duties in conjunction with our EMS mission. There are over 60 full time and depending on the time of year, between ten and fifteen part-time Emergency Medical technicians, Firefighters, and Paramedics employed by our agency. These personnel staff 8 permitted Fire & EMS transport capable units backed up by Fire & EMS Supervisor specialty unit squad trucks 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The Supervisor specialty unit squad trucks carry patient stabilization, firefighting, and medium to heavy rescue equipment (Jaws of Life). Personnel that are primarily assigned to Firefighting duties staff two of the Fire Stations (at the station chief’s request) from 8 am until 8pm five days per week.
