The Story of Ramsey's
CANAL STREET, 1958 - Master Craftsman Robert "Bob" Ramsey, Sr. opens B & J Manufacturing Jewelers in New Orleans. Soon the finest jewelry stores are sending him all their most difficult repairs. B & J also manufactures fine custom jewelry for jewelers to sell under their own name.
1972 Bob Ramsey opens Ramsey's Jewelers in Metairie on the corner of W. Esplanade and Transcontinental.
1975 Robert Ramsey, Jr. joins the firm as an apprentice jeweler.
1980 Bob turns over the day to day operations of the Metairie store to Robert, Jr. and he is soon joined by his sister Lori. The two siblings work hard in the small jewelry store that is building a loyal clientele.
1993 Ramsey's moves to its current location on Veterans Memorial Blvd. The convenient location and beautiful custom-built building helped introduce many new guests to Ramsey's exceptional quality and affordable prices.
1996 Bob, Sr. passes away, smiling with pride that his two children have grown his little jewelry repair shop into one of Louisiana's most important jewelry stores.
1998 Robert, Jr. and Lori elect to become diamond specialists. Watches, pearls, giftware and other non-diamond items no longer have a place at Ramsey's. Ramsey's Jewelers becomes Ramsey's Diamond Jewelers. Worldwide diamond sourcing begins.
1999 Robert's son Bobby joins Ramsey's after apprenticing with jewelry stores in Missouri and Indiana.
2003 Robert's son Wesley begins overseeing the repair and custom jewelry designs at Ramsey's Diamond Jewelers.
