R & M Stables is located near the I-77, I-81 merge in beautiful Wytheville, Virginia. We are a full service facility specializing in Registered Tennessee Walking Horses, and Spotted Saddle Horses. We offer a full array of services including sales (trail and show prospects), boarding, instruction, training, colt starting, trail riding, and leasing. We also offer breeding with our resident stallion; Blame it on the Cuervo, as well as assistance with artificial insemination through relationships we have established with many of the leading breeding stables in the industry.
We currently have a Bed & Breakfast (Crooked Rail Inn) under construction which will be quite unique in nature. Unique because it will be located INSIDE our new 11,000 square foot barn! The accommodations will be over the top! The living area, and bedroom will feature flat screen HD TV's, hardwood floors throughout, internet, and a modern full service kitchen. The Crooked Rail Inn will be available to our guests 365 days per year. Boarding (Stable) for your horses will be included. We also offer RV hookups for our guests with campers with both 30 and 50 amp service available. Reservations are recommended; please contact us for full details.
Our facility also provides a great venue for special events such as birthday parties, weddings, and family reunions. We can easily accommodate up to 75 people and will be happy to help you make your next family event something really special.
Our property has three barns; two of which that are available for boarding. One has three stalls, a large tack room, loft area, electricity/water, and an adjacent paddock; this barn is probably best suited for someone looking for a more private setting. The boarding arrangement can be structured to include as little, or as much service from out staff as the tenant requires.
Our newest, is an 11,000 square foot facility that features a heated indoor arena, heated tack room, wash stall, and a separate feed room. The stalls are cleaned at least twice per day by our staff, and the horses are turned out to exercise daily. In addition to traditional boarding arrangements, we also offer temporary boarding for horses requiring short term medical care, as well as expectant mares. 24 hour video monitoring is coming soon! All tenants have full access to our outdoor lighted arena by appointment.
We also offer riding instruction from beginner thru advanced. Beginner students start out with the basics of horse care, and more importantly how to stay safe! Private or group lessons are available; on our lesson horses, or on your own horse. English or Western. Our heated indoor arena enables us to offer instruction to our clients 365 days a year, regardless of the weather!
Training is the mainstay of what we do! We specialize in helping people get their horses in a more manageable state. If your horse is barn sour, won't load, will not stand to mount, etc. we can help! We find that many times folks buy a horse that has been broke, but hasn't been ridden as much as has been represented by the seller. You will be amazed at what having your horse ridden every day by a professional will do for it's manners. During the training period, we keep you posted with videos so that you can monitor your horses progress. Once the horse has completed its training, we invite you to come back for the day to learn the cues that we have taught your horse, and to give you both a lesson. For most horses, 30 days is usually enough time to get your horse to a place where they are manageable, well mannered, and safe. If you have bought a horse that you can't handle; give us a call!
