***** Prices *****

Not everyone is the same, so why should our prices be? Please contact Raytown Productions by sending a message on Facebook or an e-mail to bobbybalow@gmail.com. Each project will have an individualized and cost effective price quote depending on your needs. Typically, we charge per song rather than an hourly rate to inspire a musician's creativity by reducing time constraints.

*****Testimonials*****

“Nothing could have been more surprising than our trip to Raytown Productions: Bobby's work ethic or the overall experience. He charges very fair rates and gives you outstanding quality for those prices. You'll notice from the moment you walk in, you're greeted as a friend. He's sat for nearly 13 straight hours worth of guitar tracking (aside from our adventure to Wendy's). You will undoubtedly be satisfied with your work after your time with Bobby. His mission statement would be most honestly stated as "No Regrets". He wants you to be completely satisfied with your efforts and his contributions. He really gets into the project with you and helps you work out any kinks without being overbearing and forcible. I can honestly say that this is the BEST studio I have ever worked in. You will be satisfied with your work, and people are going to ask you about where you recorded. It's an honor for me to tell people when they ask me that very question, "Raytown Productions".”

"Bobby Balow can only be described as "True Professional" when it comes to his recording services. Today we Fly went to Balow's Raytown productions for a 8 song project in Late August of 2008. Bobby took our project on as if he were recording his own band and the result was everything that we could have hoped for and more. We would definitely recommend Balow's services to any band trying to get a great recording for great value. Not only will you get what you are looking for but Balow will do everything he can during the recording process to ensure that your expectations are exceeded by his work. Thanks Bobby!!"

"Bobby's knowledge of music recording and engineering was clearly shown since the first time I contacted him. Throughout the entire recording process, from the planning stage through the actual recording itself, Bobby has been very helpful and flexible with times of recording, methods, and resources for recording. With a great price to match a great finished product, you can't go wrong using Bobby's services. From beginners to already established musicians, I definitely recommend his services to anyone who is looking for a great sounding recording. Thanks for everything Bobby!"

"Bobby is the most hardworking recording engineer we have ever met. He really shows that its not about the money, but rather the music. This speaks for itself when he charges you very little for quality that could be heard on the radio. He will always work with you through all the mistakes and frustration that you may have during recording process. We would recommend Bobby to ANYONE. We will definitely be seeing him again..."

What to know before recording

1) Know your songs! Try recording them during practice or at a show and listen back to make sure everything sounds correct. You would be surprised how many times bands come into the studio to find out that they are playing the wrong notes!

2) Know the tempos for your songs! Also, make sure that your drummer is comfortable playing to a click track. There are plenty of free resources online that can be used for playing to a metronome.

3) Send me a list of cds that you want your cd to sound like. For example, if you really like the drum sound from Paramore, tell me that! It gives me an idea of how to set up for the project.

4) Buy new strings for all the guitars and bass, stretch them out before coming in, and make sure that your guitars/bass are INTONATED! This is very important. This does NOT mean tuned. If you don't know what this means, take your guitar to a music store and pay $15 to have them professionally intonate your guitar or bass.

5) If you can afford it, new heads for your drums will really make them pop in the mix! Also make sure they are tuned! A $5k drum set can sound worse than a $200 set if you don't take the time to properly tune all your drums!

6) Keep guests to a minimum. You are here to record, not to be distracted by your girlfriend or "videographer".

7) Bring something to do! This is very important. You WILL be bored when you aren't tracking. Often bands bring an xbox so they can take care of the zombie invasion while the guitar player is trying to nail his solo...

8) Arrive on time! I charge per song, but I always appreciate bands that arrive on time so the day doesn't run long! Remember, my job doesn't end when you leave the studio...

9) Have your vocal harmonies figured out before coming in. This gives us more time to come up with ideas and try new things instead of wasting time.

10) Wear deodorant! For some reason people always seem forget to do this... How is an engineer/producer supposed to work under these conditions?
