We empower students to succeed in reading and in life by harnessing the power of community volunteers to provide one-on-one reading instruction.
Reading Partners is a national education nonprofit that works with Title I elementary schools to support students who are reading six months to two and a half years below grade-level.
We recruit and train community volunteers to work one-on-one with students by following a structured, research-based curriculum. In the 2013-14 school year we served 20 schools and 1,097 students in Silicon Valley.
Reading Partners is focused on data and results. We are dedicated to ensuring that every investment made in the success of our students leads to a measurable increase in reading skills. During the 2013-14 school year:
• 93% of students accelerated their progress in reading.
• 73% of students narrowed their reading achievement gap.
• 87% of principals noted school-wide progress in reading.
Our school sites are located in cities across the Southern Bay Area, including Redwood City, Menlo Park, Atherton, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Milpitas, Union City, and Hayward.
