Nestled in the rolling hills of central North Carolina on acres of fields, meadows and woodland. At Rising Meadow Farm our main focus is on raising sheep.
Using a blend of traditional and new farming practices we are building a way of life that cherishes and enhances the natural environment as it creates a livelihood for our family. The desire to raise animals and plants as naturally as possible has provided the guidelines we follow.
Here at Rising Meadow Farm our main focus is on raising sheep, both for wool and meat. We raise all of our animals without the use of growth hormones and antibiotics. Their primary source of feed is pasture with the addition of hay and real grains when necessary. Other animals on the farm include Angora Goats, raised for their mohair fiber, Llamas, used exclusively as guard animals against potential predators, and free-range chickens that supply our kitchen with the best of eggs.
The herbs, flowers and vegetables in our garden benefit from the wonderful compost our farm is able to produce. The commitment to this kind of agriculture is not only beneficial to the environment but we believe it is also beneficial to anyone who uses our products.
Rising Meadow Farm is committed to preserving the environment and farmland for future generations. In 2011 the farm was placed under a Conservation Easement with the Piedmont Land Conservancy.
We welcome visitors to the farm during our three annual events, Shearing Day, held in the February, Spring Open Farm Day in May, and Farm Fest in September.
