The Roscommon Historic Model Train Clubs mission is to educate and promote public interest in the building and operation of model trains. We are committed in promoting fellowship of our members, as well as creating public awareness of the fun and excitement associated with this great hobby.

Roscommon Historic Model Train Club
The club was formed in 2008 with a meeting attended by about fifteen potential members. From that humble beginning to present time, much has happened with the club, it's membership, and support from our community, the Village of Roscommon.
A Village built garden railroad structure was the start of our partnership with the community. Our involvement with and annual 'Christmas in the Village' event then prompted the Village to give us temporary use of a newly acquired building next to the railroad tracks. The train display was a big hit and we were approached about a more permanent use of the building after the holiday season was over. This building of course turned out to be our future (now current) home for the club.
In 2010 the 130 year old building got a badly needed FACE LIFT. A total redo of the exterior, as well as new windows gave the building a new lease on life. The club and it's members were then responsible for interior updates and upgrades. The BUILDING PROJECTS are now complete and the two story building is being put to good use by the club members. With two separate layout display areas, train storage shelves, repair benches, fully equipped work shop, and a club meeting room with kitchen area.
Our members model many scales of railroads. There are currently displays of N, H.O., S, O, and G scale trains in the clubhouse. We are now ready to give full attention to finishing our permanent H.O. layout. The new O scale layout which was donated by club member Cal Patterson was completed in late November 2013, just in time for the annual Christmas In The Village event. The garden railway, which is located next to the railroad depot, is complete except adding more flowers as time progresses. Three separate tracks are now functional along with many buildings, a large trestle, and a tunnel. Plantings, building structures and different scenes will be ongoing projects for the near future until complete.
The 1.5" scale ride-on track layout was completed in spring 2012. The train was donated to the club by local residents and we are recently completed the rebuilding of the locomotive and rolling stock. The gas powered locomotive was rebuilt during the cold weather months this past winter and now has a hydraulic drive system. Pictures of this process, and progress are now shown on the 1.5" Scale page.
