Certified Life Coach: Empowering People to Blossom One Petal at a Time!
What is a Life Coach?
A Life Coach is a professional who helps their client define, set and achieve their goals while offering insight and motivation with the purpose of keeping their client on track toward accomplishing those goals.
As an example, the athletic coach helps us understand the role of a coach. And yet, even athletes who have a sports coach will still hire a life coach to help them define, set and achieve their broader athletic goals. The team coach is there to teach them the art of the sport, while the life coach assists the athlete to decide where they want to go with that training and then to help their client reach those goals.
There are different types of coaching used to assist and empower people. I prefer to use a style where I ask questions and offer opportunities that will challenge my clients to find their answers and solutions from within themselves. This ‘Socratic method’ facilitates my clients to discover answers and new ways of being, based on their own values, preferences and unique perspectives. As a mother of six interesting individuals, I have also been known to intervene, when appropriate, in their natural exploration. For example, a parent doesn’t allow their child to play on the freeway as wisdom has already proven that point. And yet, as a parent of an adult, I do believe there are some lessons they may need to learn on their own without my intervention.
What is Offered?
The Life Coach will offer advice and insights to help the client make plans while holding them accountable to taking actions as well as to motivate the individual in any way possible.
Types of Coaches?
"Life Coach" is the general term for any person who helps motivate and assist another individual toward reaching their goals. More specifically, life coaches work in the areas of health, fitness and business. I also work in the area of spirituality and am available for people who are seeking to grow in their spiritual walk. Often, these Life Coaches are referred to as "Fitness" or "Business" coaches. I love assisting people in all of the four areas.
Time Frame?
The amount of time the Life Coach spends with their clients varies. It depends on how long the goal or plan is expected to take as well as how long the client wishes to utilize the coach's services. A general average is around one to two months.
Pay?
Life Coaches charge different rates depending on their experience and reputations. The average amount charged is $300 per month to speak over the phone for 30 to 60 minutes a week. I prefer to meet with my clients in person for the first two meetings and then following appointments are set up based upon the needs of my client and how they prefer to communicate. I charge $95 per hour on average.
