Ruddy Waters Pottery is a family owned and operated business that incorporates the skills, ideas, and effort of each and every family member from myself (Jeremiah Mahurin), to my wife Kristy, our oldest son Derek & his family, our daughter Brittany, and our youngest son Jacob. Pottery has been a passion of mine since I took my first pottery class in high school. Over the years I have enjoyed throwing with different types of clay, experimenting with glazes, and pulling the finished product from the kiln as I discover each piece's own unique character. The whole process is amazing to me because you can start out with a soft shapeless lump of clay and end up with a functional piece of art that will be around for years to come. I shared my hobby with my wife who was instantly hooked, and my children's love of pottery was only natural as they have been playing in the ruddy colored clay since they were little ones. Kristy and Brittany enjoy carving and are often asked to customize pieces with names, initials, &/or pictures. Derek's favorite is throwing and hand building while Jacob prefers to help out with listing items, supplies, and shipping. We are always bouncing ideas off of each other and never grow tired of playing with clay (especially the grandkids!). To this day, opening the kiln after a glaze firing is reminiscent of Christmas morning when the kids were growing up, we can hardly wait! Pottery has provided our family with hours and hours of enjoyment and relaxation as we express ourselves artistically, listen to music, and talk about our dreams. Pottery is a part of who we are, we have spent years sharing it with those we love, and now we are very excited that through Ruddy Waters Pottery, we can share it with you!!!
