Salisbury is a unique city with historic main street charm where public art is a mainstay in the city’s physical, cultural and economic profile. The Salisbury Sculpture Show provides an appealing venue for artists as it engages residents and visitors with different styles of art, generates citizen input, and cultivates art patrons for the community.

Five successful shows have built Salisbury’s reputation as a venue for first class sculpture. The 2009 and 2010 Sculpture Shows drew coverage from from UNC-TV and Our State Magazine as well as various local and regional media outlets.

Fourteen pieces were carefully selected for the 2013 Show and are sited to best enhance the sculptures’ visibility and accessibility. Two sculptures are placed on the campus of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, and the others are within the downtown area.

Exhibiting artists receive a stipend. Best in show awards will be given later in the spring, and a purchase prize is planned. A 25% commission on work sold during the show will help build funds for future public art projects.
