The Santa Barbara 100 is Southern California’s premier coastal mountain range, 100 mile and 100k ultra-marathon endurance run hosted annually Santa Barbara, CA. Conveniently starting and finishing at the Sage Hill Campground located 20 minutes from upper State Street and Highway 154, one of Santa Barbara’s popular hotel and shopping locals.
The SB 100 starts and finishes at the easily accessible Sage Hill Campground, located in the Lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area. Hosted on a well-marked and simple to navigate out and back route comprised of dirt roads, trails and a few paved road sections. The route is comprised of 9 sections that vary between 3.81 and 8.26 miles in length. Each of the 9 sections is staged with a well provisioned and staffed aid stations replete with HAM communications to support entrants, pacers and staff. For crew and guests there are paved roads that can be utilized to see and cheer your runner from as many as 10 locations.
The SB 100 is hosted entirely within the Santa Barbara Ranger District, Los Padres National Forest

SB 100 entrants, guest and crew will take in the stunning and unique topography of the Santa Ynez Mtn. Range in its summer glory with brilliant wildflowers and verdant Mediterranean Chaparral in full bloom on north and south slopes in this western most section of the Transverse Mountain Range, one of a few ranges in the Continental United States that run entirely east to west. The rugged topography is steepest on the northern side, which boasts grassy potrero’s, Oak savannas and deep canyons with seasonal creeks that flow through dense Alder and Sycamore grottos. The south slopes are choked with dense chaparral, dramatic views of sandstone, Coldwater and Matilija formations, and offer unmatched views of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpentaria and Ventura in addition to soaring vistas of the Dick Smith Wilderness to the north, the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Island Marine Sanctuary to the South and Magu Peak, the western most point of the Santa Monica Mtn.
