The Schaumburg Firefighter's Annual Softball Tournament is a fundraiser to raise money for the Loyola Burn Center and the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.
The Schaumburg Firefighters have been hosting a charity softball tournament since 1993. Thirty four fire departments throughout the Chicago area come together to raise money for Loyola University’s Burn Center and the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. Each year about $40,000 is raised, with $25,000 going to Loyola, $5000 to the food pantry and $6000 for Christmas gifts for families that cannot afford gifts. Weber Grill is on hand cooking hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. Schaumburg firefighters also cook hot dogs, brats and pizza. All of the food is free of charge. Pop and beer are available for a small fee. A raffle is held with a grand prize of a $1000 gift card. There is also a silent auction with many autographed sports items, hotel stays, golf outings and many other items. The event is open to the public and each year about 1000 people attend.
