Perkins for San Ramon City Council
Current City Councilmember, Scott Perkins, has pulled papers to run for a council seat in the 2011 San Ramon city elections. Perkins was first elected to the San Ramon City Council in 2003 and has served two terms.
Perkins, who is a flight test engineer at Lawrence Livermore Lab, currently serves as San Ramon’s Vice Mayor. “I am seeking reelection because I believe we must continue to work to achieve financial strength in our city government. That strength allows San Ramon to provide a network of services for our residents that result in an outstanding quality of life,” said Perkins, who along with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four children, is a 31 year resident of San Ramon.
Perkins brings a strong financial background to his city service having served as a financial manager for Lawrence Livermore Lab. “Since 2003, I have worked hard to bring San Ramon to strong financial health. We continue to work to overcome the “Great Recession” and maintain a strong financial reserve in our city budget. We are one of only 25 cities in all of California with a S&P AAA credit rating, and we continue to maintain a parks and recreation system that is of high quality and widely used. I am proud of my contributions in that effort.”
Perkins, however, believes there is more to be done and looks forward to an energetic election. As a member of Save Mt, Diablo for more than 5 years, Scott is determined to maintain the rural character of the Tassajara Valley and only allow farming and open space. For the last 26 years, Councilmember Perkins has led Boy Scouts on local hikes and 50-mile backpack treks, and this has strengthened his desire to protect open space around San Ramon.
