What is Crossfit?
Regardless of what you've seen or heard, here is our simple definition: At SECT Crossfit we define it as a workout program that builds strength & conditioning with extremely varied and challenging workouts based upon YOUR abilities (not the 22 year old muscle head).
SECT Crossfit is different than most commercial gyms, and very different from most other Crossfit boxes in the New London County area.
We are different because we have been an affiliate since 2007. It's not because we were the 7th affiliate in the state. (There are over 90 today) The reason we are different is we have the experience to write programming that can be done by even the most unfit human being. We work with women & men in their 20's to their 50's.
Who is SECT Crossfit for?
Unlike the big impersonal gym that tells you they are "judgement free", we truly are. We specialize in helping our members learn how to perform all lifts safely and effectively.
We are a tight knit community which will cheer for your, suffer with you, offer you all kinds of encouragement when the workout is just that challenging. If you are looking for a "community" and not simply a gym for $10/month then we are for you.
If you don't like working out alone and have been intimidated by the impersonal gym scene, we'd love to meet you and your friends.
Is it Dangerous?
Here at SECT Crossfit we pride ourselves for scaling (that's Crossfit speak for making the workout doable for the rest of us) workouts so no injuries occur. We also take pride with our coaches whose number 1 goal is your safety. The majority of our members have real jobs they have to go to each and every day.
Is it Expensive?
Look, we can't sell $10 memberships with the level of service that we give. This isn't some gym where you come in and do 20 minutes on a treadmill and leave. We actually have a "coach" who will lead each class in our small group coaching format. You are getting world class instruction at the fraction of what a personal trainer would cost you.
What is a Class Like?
Great question. A class is only 1 hour total and we have them frequently throughout the day to fit the busy mom, to the local 2nd shift law enforcement officer. They all start with a dynamic warm-up, then we will teach a weight lifting skill, then a workout from 5 minutes to 25 minutes, and then a cool down. You never know what to expect. This is why so many of our members have been with us since the conception.
Will SECT Crossfit help me lose weight?
Yes. As long as your nutrition is dialed in. In fact, we are the only box in New London County that has a unique relationship with an Online Meal planner that has 51 Registered Dietitian designed meal plans. One for each week because let's be realistic, living on caveman food simply isn't sustainable long-term.
