Teacher Education Department at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania

Welcome to the Department of Teacher Education at Shippensburg University. We hope that you find our homepage as well as our e-advising page informative and useful tools as you either consider enrolling in our programs or as you progress through your program of choice at Shippensburg.

Our department offers several undergraduate choices which prepare you to become a teacher in the state of Pennsylvania. You are able to select from either the Early Childhood/Elementary Program which is often referred to as the PK-4 program or the Elementary/Middle Level Program which
prepares you for teaching in grades 4-8. Our graduate program offers Master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction with several different level options as well as a Master’s in Reading which prepares teachers to become Reading Specialists in schools.

Regardless of what program you choose or what level you choose to study at, please know that our faculty has a wide range of interest and focus areas as well as in-depth preparation in their subjects. They are passionate about not only their teaching areas but also about assisting students in meeting their educational goals. Our faculty has involved students in writing for publication, engaging in student-faculty research, introducing them to presenting at conferences as well as involving them in many different educational outreach programs and student clubs.
