SYHA Facebook page was created to share your youth hockey experience and to promote the program and it's goals.
SYHA will begin its 41st season on September 1, 2014. All of the teams promote the Town of Shrewsbury as they participate in youth leagues located in central and eastern MA. All of the teams play games in the Northstar Youth Forum in Westborough. Youth hockey traditionally has one of the longest seasons of all youth sports. The season starts the end of August and ends the middle of April. It takes a huge commitment by both the players and their parents throughout the season. Most teams will play 25-30 games and 60 on ice practices.
Youth hockey is one of the most expensive sports to participate in due to ice costs, uniforms, and individual protective equipment. Fund raising and corporate sponsorship has played a big part to defray costs.
On July 20, 1973 a group of Shrewsbury parents organized and submitted Articles of Incorporation with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts forming Shrewsbury Youth Hockey Association Inc., an all volunteer, non-profit youth hockey program.
