Updated: WESTERLO --- Congratulations Silver Creek Drive-in! This place is AMAZING. Mike and I were on our way to Hunter mountain to go zip-lining, and we were already running late, so we didn't get a chance to have a sit down breakfast. About halfway through our trip, Mike said, "I really just want a bacon egg and cheese sandwich." I KID YOU NOT, seconds later we saw a sign, 'breakfast sandwiches ahead.' We had to stop, and thank goodness we did. This wasn't just any breakfast sandwich... it was the BEST breakfast sandwich we have ever had. We were so in love and impressed with our meal, we decided we had to have more. Next up, lunch: we split a sausage sandwich with peppers and onions. OH my #Heaven. I stopped eating meat about six months ago, and the only time I even consider it as an option is when I think back on my Silver Creek Drive-in experience. The memories make my mouth water. We of course had to finish our pig-out session (no pun intended) with some delicious ice cream, and boy did that go down easy! Weeks later I had a story near the Silver Creek Drive-in, so I took my photographer there to try it out. Two for two! CBS6 photographer, Jim McCann will second that it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches HE has ever had. So what's the story behind this place? The owner, Mr. Vincent Rufa owned a deli in the Bronx years ago, and he wanted to start a food business upstate after he retired from being a corrections officer in Albany County. Rufa cooks everything fresh at the trailer, and let me tell you... He is the BIGGEST sweetheart. If you're uncertain about what to order, he will let you try it before you buy it. Good news for the really big fans out there, he also does catering. Rufa will be moving into the store next to the trailer within the next year, but I personally hope he keeps the red icon around. Silver Creek Drive-in deserves all of the support it can get. Please make the trip out, and tell the family I said hello.
