A walking, jogging, and biking trail that connects the Village of Perry to Silver Lake, and beyond!
The long term goal of the Silver Lake Trail Council is to extend the existing three-quarter mile trail that runs from Walker Road to South Federal Street using existing public roads and paths without utilizing private property unless otherwise granted. The resulting path might ultimately lead from Letchworth State Park to Silver Lake State Park and circumscribe Silver Lake with a safe, pleasurable path that can be used by residents and tourists alike. The SLTC, as a group of Village and Silver Lake residents who are always seeking public input, came together to ensure that the best interests of area residents will be served while helping to improve the quality of life in our community with the addition of a fitness, educational, and connective trail.
The immediate focus of the Silver Lake Trail Council went to four locations around
Main Street Perry and Silver Lake; Memorial Park on Main Street, the South Federal Street trail head, Walker Road and Walker Road Bridge, and the Public Beach on Silver Lake. The trail extension in these areas will provide village residents with safe walking, biking, jogging access to the Public Beach as well as providing lake residents with safe access to the village and Downtown Perry businesses and features. As Perry is rich with history, this length of the trail would contain markers that would call out and identify historically significant locations and time periods.
