www.sitkacenter.org Expanding the relationships between art, nature and humanity.
The Sitka Center is located in view of the Pacific Ocean, under Cascade Head and at the edge of the Salmon River estuary. Spiraling out from the Sitka Center’s campus is an array of protected and heart-wrenchingly beautiful lands, including a United Nations Biosphere Reserve and the only Scenic Research Area in the world.
We are literally a center at the edge – a place where land, freshwater, saltwater, and sky meet, and people and ideas converge, commingle, and depart transformed.
From May to October, we offer over 100 workshops on an array of subjects from writing, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, metalworking, music, nature, food, encaustic, woodworking, and more.
From October to May, we host an artist- and scientist-in-residency program which allows artists, writers, musicians and scientists of all backgrounds to live and work on our campus, free of charge, for up to three and a half months.
