Observatory and Nature Center
SKY'S THE LIMIT is a nonprofit, grass-roots organization dedicated to building an Observatory and Nature Center adjacent to the Joshua Tree National Park, in neighboring Twentynine Palms, California, for the purpose of engaging and educating the public in the fields of astronomy, environmental science, and earth studies. Our site and our structures will also provide hands-on opportunities to learn about sustainable desert design.
Fifteen acres of pristine Mojave Desert land, on which more than 105 native plant species have been identified, our site boasts sweeping panoramas in all directions and offers a particularly good view of the brilliant night sky. Located on the east side of Utah Trail at the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, the site is approximately three hours east of Los Angeles. Exit I-10 at Highway 62 to Twentynine Palms. Continue up through the Morongo Basin towns of Yucca Valley and Joshua. In Twentynine Palms, past Adobe Road, proceed to Utah Trail, turn south (right), and continue 3.5 miles to the Observatory and Nature Center entrance on your left.
