All officers must meet Kentucky POPS Standards:
• Must Be a Citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate)
• Must Be a Minimum of 21 Years of Age
• Must Have be a High School Graduate or G.E.D.
• Must Have a Valid Operator’s License
• Must Submit to a Fingerprint Exam
• Must be Absence of a Felony
• No Prohibition on Firearm Possession (Federal or
• State)
• Code of Ethics Distributed and Signed
• Has not Received a Dishonorable Discharge or
• General Discharge under other than Honorable
• Conditions
• Must Complete Medical Exam Complete
• Must Submit to Valid Negative Drug Screen Report
• Must Complete Background Investigation
• Must Have Interview Conducted by Agency Executive or Designee
• Cannot Have Revocation of Certification in Another State as a
• Peace Officer
• Must Submit to Suitability Screener
• Must Pass Physical Fitness Standards
