South Orangetown Central School District consists of five school buildings: one pre-kindergarten special education school/K-1 building, two other elementary schools 2-3, 4-5, a middle school housing Grades 6-8 and a high school for Grades 9-12. The schools serve a population of almost 3,600 students.
South Orangetown Central School District is located in the Town of Orangetown 18 miles north of New York City, which makes it attractive to those who commute to Manhattan, Westchester County, Northern New Jersey, and Connecticut. Bordered by the Hudson River to the east, it is comprised of the villages and hamlets of Blauvelt, Grand View, Orangeburg, Palisades, Piermont, Sparkill, and Tappan. The district covers about 22 square miles.
