South Plains Electric Cooperative (SPEC) is an electricity provider headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, serving 48,000 meters in 18 counties.
There are many qualities that give not-for-profit electric cooperatives an advantage over other types of utilities and businesses. At the top of the list is providing safe, reliable electric power at the lowest possible cost. Another SPEC cooperative advantage is being owned by those we serve. That's why those who receive electric service from us are called members, not customers. Members maintain democratic control of SPEC, which means they elect fellow members to represent them on the board of directors. As a bonus, South Plains Electric Cooperative members receive special benefits through programs like Co-op Connections, energy efficiency tips at TogetherWeSave.com, educational scholarships, Youth Tour trips and community support. We also return margins to our members in the form of captial credits.
South Plains Electric Cooperative maintains multiple offices. Learn more about the office locations here: http://www.spec.coop/v/offices-locations/
