We are one of the oldest and most historic sides of downtown Lancaster Pennsylvania. Celebrate life, in the South Side with us.
The South Side Lancaster City neighborhood is one of the oldest and most historic sides of downtown Lancaster Pennsylvania. We are a neighborhood defined by a richly diverse ethnicity, cultural heritage, a wealth of successful independent businesses and our emerging redevelopment.
The South Side is outlined by it's surrounding borders of West Farnum Street, South Water Street and South Queen Street. However, it also includes the blocks between South Queen and 12 Alley. These neighborhood borders were originally sketched out by the neighborhood revitalization efforts of Lancaster City, which re-envisioned the city of Lancaster's quadrants into perspective neighborhoods.
The location of our neighborhood is just a few minute walk away from the heavily traversed and visited 'Downtown District', a few minutes from historic German influenced Cabbage Hill and less then a minute walk to the skinny streets of beautiful Churchtowne. There are many different eras of residential homes within our neighborhood, including many from the era of the late 1880s. Many of the buildings within our neighborhood's blocks, have been revitalized from their original intention and still exist as important statements to our city.
We invite our neighbors and visitors to our area, to get to know our side of the city.
