Spring Hill College Spirit Teams

The cheer and dance teams work to create school spirit throughout Spring Hill College. Both teams perform at home basketball games, as well as, attending other athletic events for support!

SHC Cheer Tryout Information:
Tryouts will be held in Spring 2015 for our 2015-2016 teams! In person tryouts are preferred, but we do accept video tryouts, if necessary.*Videos must be submitted before the tryout date.

We have two cheer teams:
PURPLE team has approximately 20 members (male or female). MINIMUM tumbling requirements = standing BHS & round off BHS.
*Please note - minimum requirements to not automatically place you on the PURPLE team. More difficult skills will be judged higher.

WHITE team is a sideline only team with approximately 16-20 members (male or female). Cheers & dances ONLY.

SHC Dance Team Tryout Information:
Dance team will have approximately 16-20 members. Tryout requirements include a dance (taught at clinics) and technical skills.

Scholarships may not be awarded to all members. Incoming
freshman, as well as, returning SHC students are eligible to tryout. Team members attend all Men's and
Women's home basketball games, as well as, postseason games.
All athletes must be SHC students or incoming freshman accepted to the College.

Who is eligible to tryout?
- Full-time SHC students
- High school seniors with proof of admission to SHC
- Undergraduate transfer students with proof of admission to SHC

Are scholarships available?
- Yes! However, they may not be awarded to all student-athletes and are based upon items such as academic performance, athletic performance, competition, etc. This is at the discretion of the Head Cheer Coach.

What are the responsibilities and privileges of an SHC Cheerleader/Dancer?
- SHC Cheerleading and Dance is a major time commitment for both fall and spring semesters, and possibly Christmas break. The Cheerleading year begins in August with Summer Camp and does not end until the end of post- season basketball, in the spring.
- Practice is held 2-3 times per week during both the fall and spring semesters.
- Mandatory strength and conditioning training takes place twice a week.
- The spirit teams attend all home men's and women's basketball including post-season tournaments, occasional other campus sporting events, and possibly competitions.
- Team members also make public appearances and perform many other valuable tasks
for the SHC Athletic Department and the College.
