Spring Sea Run Opener - Nantucket - 6022847849

The Spring Sea Run Opener is a charitable catch and release striped bass tournament on Nantucket Island with proceeds benefiting a local charity.

Welcome to the 2015 inaugural Spring Sea Run Opener Nantucket striped bass tournament!

It has been a long cold winter but with the promise of spring and stripers on the way it is once again time to dust off the rods, oil the reels, sharpen our hooks, and catch some fish! This tournament is all about getting back outside and enjoying the best of what Nantucket has to offer. Prizes will be awarded to participants for a variety of different catch types including first landed sea run striper, smallest striper in length, and first keeper bass 28" or larger. Any participant that registers a catch will also be eligible to receive one of three prizes drawn at random including the grand prize in which you will be able to select the island charity that will receive the proceeds of the tournament!

The 2015 Spring Sea Run Opener Rules and Information.

The tournament begins April 25th at sunrise and closes at midnight May 25th. Registration fee is $25 with all proceeds to benefit a Nantucket Island charity. Entrants may register any time leading up to and during the duration of the tournament but may not register a catch until 24 hours after registration. To Register click "sign up" at the top of the page or the Paypal link below in the "website" field.

This is a catch and release striped bass tournament. All catches must be either from beach or boat in Nantucket's inshore waters. All brackish ponds are off limits to this tournament as only migratory sea run stripers will be eligible. To register a catch simply take a photo of the fish with something in the photo to set the scale for length verification. A tape measure depicting the length is ideal, but another item to show scale will be acceptable (the lure it was caught on, a can, water bottle, or anything to help approximate length). In the event of a tie for the shortest striper in length, any photo submission that has used a tape measure to illustrate the length of the fish will take priority. In addition if you are able to have a photo taken with the fish please do this as well. Next, post the picture with the time and date of the catch, and the length of the fish to the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/springsearunopener) or email an image with the necessary information to springsearunopener@gmail.com. If by May 25th a keeper sized bass of 28" or greater has not been landed the tournament will continue until one has.

If there are any further questions regarding the rules, how to sign up, or anything regarding the tournament please send a private message to the Spring Sea Run Opener Facebook page or the tournament email listed below. Good times and tight lines to all!!
