Stanford University began offering a curriculum in legal studies in 1893, and in 1908 launched the Law School.
Since its creation, Stanford Law School’s basic mission has been dedication to the highest standards of excellence in legal scholarship and to the training of lawyers equipped diligently, imaginatively, and honorably to serve their clients and the public; to lead our profession; and to help solve the problems of our nation and our world.
On average, Stanford Law School receives around 4,000 applications each year from all 50 states and 65 countries. Notable Stanford Law Alumni include Supreme Court Justices William Rehnquist and Sandra Day O'Connor, Former White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolton, Former ABA President and current owner of the San Francisco Giants Bill Neukom and former Secretary of State Warren Christopher.
