The Event

Hi friends,


The Stanwood Masonic Lodge, Stanwood American Legion and Stanwood Eagles have joined in partnership to support our community by raising money for our local scholarships and charities while promoting local businesses. The intent is to hold an annual event that brings the community together via a ‘cook-off’ type event.

We have an agreement that all proceeds generated will go to our local scholarships and charities. Meaning none of the money generated can go toward the operating expenses or overhead at any of the sponsoring organizations (Masons, Legion or Eagles). By committing all monies to scholarships and charities and using a volunteer labor force, we can maximize the opportunities for our local youth.

We’ve been working behind the scenes for a few months planning the 1st annual Stanwood Camano Bite – BBQ cook off Now it’s time to let you know what progress we’re making.

To start, I think we need to clarify what we mean by BBQ? …….
……..our definition of BBQ for this event is not just traditional like ribs, chicken, beef but also…..seafood and culturally specific type bbq. Think of it as “your way”.

The northwest is a melting pot of many cultures; Native American, Dutch, Asian, Mexican, East Indian, German, Norwegian and all those in between.
We want to share all of our interpretations of BBQ in a way that bring the community together.

Our board of directors is defining some of the parameters of this event and the specific roles of what will be the team leaders, ie; operations, judging, awards, marketing and more. In the coming weeks, you’ll see information added to the website as it becomes available. http://www.scbite.com/

This is literally starting from the ground up so if you would like to be included on any updates we have, let me know via email and I’ll start creating the distribution list. Additionally, if you are interested in helping in any way, we can use all the assistance we can. All I need to know is what roles or tasks you prefer.
