Sterling Rescue provides 100% volunteer EMS and technical rescue to the approximately 80,000 residents of Sterling, VA, 24/7.
Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad is located in the suburban community of Sterling, Virginia. Sterling is located about 25 miles northwest of Washington, DC. Sterling Rescue provides emergency medical services to the residents of the neighborhoods of Sterling Park, Great Falls Forest, Broad Run Farms, Countryside, Sugarland Run, Lowes Island and Cascades.
Sterling Rescue's service area is bounded by the Potomac River to the north, Dulles Airport to the south, the Fairfax County line to the east, and Ashburn to the west. Overall, our response area covers about 25 square miles of eastern Loudoun County, Virginia, serving a population or approximately 70,000.
Sterling Rescue is staffed 24/7/365 by volunteers. We are one of the few remaining 100% volunteer organizations in the Loudoun County Fire & Rescue system. We are always looking for new members. There are two ways you can join: Operational or Administrative.
Operational members staff the apparatus and run calls. Training is provided to you at no cost. There are 4 levels of EMS training available. In order, they are EMT-B, EMT-E, EMT-I, and EMT-P. In addition, there is technical rescue training available, such as vehicle extrication, water rescue, firefighting, and more.
Administrative members are just as important. They run all of our accounting, bookkeeping, fundraising, purchasing, grant writing, IT, and more! All of these are critical to the successful operation of our organization.
