Steve's Cycle Salvage, established in 1970 in Tifton, Georgia, offers used motorcycle parts and salvage parts.
Steve’s Cycle, the world’s largest motorcycle, scooter and dirt bike ATV UTV salvage yard was established in 1979. The company was originally established as a Motorcycle repair shop. Cycles of all kinds have been in the blood of Gill since he was a young boy. At the age of 14, Gill began delivering newspapers on a Sears Allstate Vespa scooter in Sylvester, Ga.
The roots for Steve’s Cycle were laid in the 1960s when his family became a Yamaha and Hodaka Motorcycle Dealer in Sylvester, GA. The Gills had a daily operation selling new and used motorcycles from this location. As a dealer in Sylvester, Steve and his brother had to go to the train station to pick up the crated bikes that were ordered. While there, they would assemble them then ride the newly assembled motorcycles back to the shop. In 1971, seeing opportunity elsewhere, the Gills moved their business to Albany, GA. Upon arrival in Albany the Gills also began selling BMW motorcycles. The Gills sold their family dealership in Albany in 1976.
Throughout the late 60’sand 70’S he competed in motorcross races. He moved from motorcross to roadracing in the 70’s. During the 1970s, Gill competed in Daytona. During his first race he competed in the AMA 125 Sportsman Class. Gill rode a bike that he built himself and crashed. The second year he raced, he rode a Yamaha TA 125, and the engine seized up. His third year was more successful. He raced in the Outlaw class 250 cc single, riding a 74 YZ 250 that he built himself and placed third.
In 1979, Gill opened Steve’s Cycle Motorcycle Repair Shop. Seven years later the business developed into a motorcycle salvage yard selling new and used parts. Headquartered in Tifton, GA with a current inventory of over 10,000 units, Steve’s Cycle is the world’s largest motorcycle salvage yard resting on seven acres with three acres under roof. Steve Gill has gone from being a newspaper delivery boy, to a racer in Daytona, to now owning the world’s largest motorcycle, dirt bike, scooter and ATV UTV salvage yard.
