St. Joseph Health - Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 278-bed acute care providing a wide range of specialty services.

Located just off the Highway 101 corridor, approximately 55 miles north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 278-bed acute care hospital providing a wide range of specialty services. The hospital is home to the region's Level II Trauma Center serving the entire Coastal Valleys area, including Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Lake counties, as well as coastal Marin County.

St. Joseph Health is a ministry of The Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, who trace their roots back to 17th Century France.

A Jesuit priest named Jean-Pierre Medaille had a unique vision and organized an order of religious women who, rather than remaining safely cloistered in a convent, would venture out into the community, seek out "the dear neighbors" and minister to their needs. The congregation eventually expanded, not only throughout France, but throughout the world.

After an invitation from a local bishop the Sisters of St. Joseph ventured to Eureka, California, and in 1920 opened the 28-bed St. Joseph Hospital of Eureka. This is where their new health care ministry was born.
St. Joseph Health of Sonoma County is comprised of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital as well as Petaluma Valley Hospital.

St. Joseph Health continues to hold the same values as The Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange did centuries ago and strives to create a better community as a whole by improving the health and quality of life of our neighbors.
