St. Lukes Episcopal Church sits in downtown Wamego, KS, serving its community since 1868. We would love to welcome you into our parish.
The first worship services were held in Wamego in 1868. On May 22,1870, St. Luke’s Mission was organized. The church building was consecrated in 1900, the bell tower was consecrated in 1921 and the Guild Hall in 1925. Since those early days St. Luke’s has worshiped and served in the community of Wamego.
The Reverend Dr. Matthew Cobb accepted the call to serve as Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in March 2008. Father Matt is paid part-time, yet serves full-time in the life of St. Luke's. Outside of St. Luke's his ministry has made several stops, most recently he worked as Executive Director of the Meadowlark Hills Foundation in Manhattan. Prior to that he was Director of Chaplaincy at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. Father Matt and the Cobb family moved to Wamego in July of 2009 in order to more fully participate in the life of St. Luke's and integrate into the Wamego community.
