We are a Self Help Center for High School Students 14-18 yrs old. Our goal is to help prepare them for life and to be leaders in their Community.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Stockton Youth Transition Center (Stockton YTC) is a nonprofit organization located in Stockton, California in the Barrow Foundation Mentoring and Empowerment Center. We are a self-help center for high school students 14-18 years old. Our mission is to assist high school students in developing and achieving Educational and Employment goals that will help them transition into productive responsible young adult in their lives and community.

Listed below are the programs and services we offer students.

Employment Readiness Workshops – Students learn to complete job applications and resumes. They participate in mock interviews and learn various Job search techniques and strategies. We work with students weekly until they’re able to find a job. We also offer a Youth Entrepreneurs Training program that teaches students about operating their own business. Students in this program will design/develop a product or service, market and sell it.

College Early Start Program – The purpose of this program is to get students thinking and working early towards completing College Requirements. They find out and apply for scholarships. We develop an educational plan with them so they are aware of which classes they need to complete. They are also given the opportunity to enroll in college and take some of their classes that will count towards high school and college credit. Through this program it’s possible for a student to graduate from high school and college with an AA Degree at the same time. This programs also works with local employers to create Intern and Apprenticeships opportunity.

Community Service Redemption Program – This program is designed to allow students to help out and work in their community to earn trips, gift cards, merchandise, work experience and high school credit. The hours’ student work are like dollars and can be used to purchase the trips, gift cards and merchandise. All expenses are paid in regards to trips. We do college Tour trips, Disneyland, Great America, Six Flags, Boomers and Santa Cruz.

Work For A Wish Program – Students are able to use this program to make a wish and if they complete the agreed upon community Service hours their wish is granted. Students can use this program once a year.

How it works – Students are assigned a Life coach/Mentor (volunteer) that works with them to explore Career/College options and determine which program works best for meeting their goals. Together they develop an Educational/ Employment Goal Plan.

Additionally, we have an Advisory Board made up of students from the local high schools. This groups gets feedback from fellow students regarding what activities and events they would like to see in Stockton.

Our goal is to make sure we are providing youth with activities and events they would like us to host in Stockton. All of our programs and services are free for students to participate in.

We are located in the Barrow Foundation Mentoring and Empowerment Center in Stockton, California. The Barrow Foundation Center is a Resource Center that assists adults with the tools they need, in order to be the best that they can be. Additionally, they maintain a food pantry and clothes closet They also provide eight lucky high school graduating seniors with a Scholarship to attend a college of their choice.

We are opened Monday thru Friday 11:00am - 5:30pm.
