Streator Firefighters have a long history of representation by the International Association of Fire Fighters. In fact, Streator Firefighters Union Local #56 is a charter member of the Union having been established on the very first day the IAFF existed, February 28, 1918. The Charter was signed by the 10 Streator Firefighters and still hangs on the wall today. The Union is the 56th organization recognized by the IAFF in its history. Today, there are over 4,000 fire member organizations in the World.
