Located above Bob's Burger and Brew in Sumas, the Sumas Mountain Lodge features 9 rustic rooms modeled after the 1927 Mt. Baker Lodge.
In 1927 a world class resort with 350 rooms was built in the Mt. Baker ski area in the shadow of Mt. Shuksan. The hotel featured log construction, stone fireplaces, Northwest Indian Decor, and a 70 foot observation that offered exquisite views of the surrounding mountains. Tragically, the entire building was destroyed by fire in 1931.
The Sumas Mountain Lodge recreates the aura of the Mt. Baker Lodge. Our observation tower offers a view of Mt. Baker and the surrounding countryside. The rooms feature wooden floors, braided rugs, antique furniture, hand stripped log headboards and pictures of the old Mt. Baker Lodge obtained from the Mills family of Bellingham.
