Welcome to the Swansea Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page. The Swansea Fire Department was established in 1920, and proudly serves the town of Swansea, MA, protecting a population of 15,905 residents, spanning a distance of 25 square miles along with 2.5 miles of coast line.

Since our founding we have grown from one station to four, fielding four frontline engines with two additional reserve engines, a 100 foot aerial ladder, two forestry units, two marine units and a heavy rescue unit. The department responds to an average of 500 incidents annually ranging from structure fires, marine rescues, brush fires, motor vehicle extrications and general alarms.
Over 100 volunteers sacrifice their personal time not only to serve and protect their community, but also to participate in the most advanced training available through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Fire Academy. Recruits complete Firefighter I/II through the Fire Academy, officers attend specialized training regarding decision making, strategy and tactics and safety. Homeland Security training includes response to terrorist incidents, handling chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosive incidents. All firefighters are HAZ-MAT first responder operational and EMS first responders. Special operations training include vehicle extrication, high angle rescue, and confined space.
