We are about getting families outside on the farm. We have barnyard animals and lots of horses. We love to teach people about our animals and nature.
Horseback Riding plus Farm Fun Activities for All
“Sweetwater Farms is where kids can trade ‘screen time’ for hands-on organic activities. We have horses, farm animals, sunshine—and yes—dirt,” says Roberta Jackson, head trainer and owner of Sweetwater Farms.
Raised in Bonita, Jackson was horse-crazy as a girl. When she was 11, her family purchased “Nutmeg,” a quarter horse, and that was the start of a lifetime devotion to horses and people. Aware of the positive power that horses have on people, Jackson opened Sweetwater Farms in 1985.
Located in Bonita, the farm offers many activities: beginning horseback riding lessons for ages 4 and up; riding school for more experienced riders; monthly horse shows; summer, spring and holiday camps; family and scout troop trail rides; birthday parties; family farm visits; a petting barn; hay rides and special needs programs. “It’s a farm in the middle of the city,” says Jackson.
Don’t miss their Family Farm Spring Festival on April 18-19.
