General Body Meetings every Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Hall of Languages Room 500! Come to learn what's going on in your residence hall this year!
The Residence Hall Association, is the governing body of the residence halls. We are one of the student organizations within the Office of Residence Life and we provide advocacy, programming, and leadership opportunities for all residents. The Residence Hall Association is actually a part of the the largest student governing body in the world ( the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, better known as NACURH).
You may have heard of the community councils that are in every hall. We are the governing body of those community councils. Our Executive Board is made up of 9 members, and three advisors. Many people do not know that our general body which consist of every student that lives in a residence halls and they all have membership to our organization. So quite a large number on this campus.
Our main purpose is to be the voice of the residence halls, and those who live in them. We put on programs, advocate for students that live in the halls. For example we've noticed a lot in the D.O. about gender neutral housing, which is in the residence halls, and something we govern on, so we'd like the opportunity to talk about it. Other things we have worked on in the past, which has also been mentioned in the D.O., is getting the lounges back in the Residence Halls. Last semester we wrote a resolution, which was passed by housing to bring back the lounges in most of our halls. We have a lot of initiatives that we are currently working on in the halls, and updates will surly be posed!
