Taft Family Offices was formally incorporated in 1983 (then managed by E. Hoover Taft, Jr.) as a real estate development firm. Mr. Taft was also an Attorney, who practiced law and developed properties in his office located in “The Taft Building” on Greene Street in Downtown Greenville, NC.

As Mr. Taft’s career began to wind down, his youngest son, Thomas F. Taft, Sr., who retired from the North Carolina Senate in 1988, was moving back to his hometown with the desire to follow in his father’s footsteps. Tom would go on to have one of the most successful personal injury law practices in North Carolina and one of the most rapidly growing real estate development firms in Eastern North Carolina.

Tom’s first priority as President of Taft Family Offices was to develop a space where his dreams (and staff) could grow. A suite of offices located at 2217 Stantonsburg in Greenville was developed and Tom moved Taft Family Offices to this location, where we have been expanding ever since. Over the past 20 years, Tom and his staff at Taft Family Offices have acquired, developed and managed properties of all types including mixed use, retail, multifamily, single family, commercial office, medical office, mini storage, warehouse and flex space as well as our most recent endeavor, student housing.

We currently own and manage in excess of 2 million square feet of commercial real estate and more than 3,500 residential units.
