The Tent City Movement is an advocacy organization for establishing and aiding low-cost homeless camps. This is the local chapter for Monmouth County, NJ.
It all started with "Tent City" in Lakewood Township, Ocean County, NJ - which for a time was the largest homeless camp of its kind in North Eastern USA, before being brutally bulldozed by the government, ending in June 2014. The supporter network for Tent City then transitioned from focusing on one specific location to a county-wide MOVEMENT, petitioning Ocean County Freeholders to provide "public land" for a safe homeless camp somewhere else.
The "Tent City Movement" will consist of independent copycat chapters operating on county level. (State-wide or municipality-specific campaigns may be considered later.) This is the first "sister organization", operating in neighboring Monmouth County, lead by Lakewood Tent City advocate Lisa Rose Ferrara.
