Jose Correa grew up in Baytown; he received his associate’s degree in natural science from Lee College and then a Bachelor’s in biology from the University of Houston. While attending the University of Houston, Dr. Correa was involved in Pre-Optometry Professional Society where he volunteered for the Houston Low Vision Center. During this time Jose met his now friend Jason Prescott who recommended him to optometry school. Dr. Correa then moved to San Antonio to attend the University of Incarnate Word where he received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Rosenberg School of Optometry. During his four years at RSO, he started a Low Vision Club, and was also a member of the Private Practice Club, National Optometric Student Association, and the Student’s Texas Optometric Association.
Jose did his externship rotations in ocular disease under Dr. Rick Sharp, Dr. Eddie Contreras, Dr. Steve Campbell, and Dr. John Kozlovsky. He received a letter of clinical excellence every year that he attended RSO, was awarded for his excellence in private practice and contact lens care, graduated with Honors in Phi Theta Kappa, and was voted “Best in Class 2014.”
Dr. Correa fell in love with the ocular disease and medical optometry. He is certified to treat and monitor any ocular disease including: Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, Cataracts, Diabetic retinopathy, Amblyopia, and Strabismus to name a few. He also fits soft contact lenses, gas permeable contact lenses and specialty contact lenses like Jupiter Scleral lens and SynergEyes lenses.
