Scratch Made Buttermilk Biscuits
The Biscuit Shop is all about the biscuit. A shop ALL about biscuits!? Absolutely! I've been making scratch made buttermilk biscuits for as long as I can remember. It's definitely a comfort food for me and even more comforting to make these buttermilk beauties.
I learned to make buttermilk biscuits from my Grandmother, Dot McMurray. Her Daddy, Papa Downs, was a baker. No wonder I don't have a recipe..it's a gene thing ❤️! I've always been told, "you just know". That's exactly right. Whether making a batch for our family of 6 or making hundreds at a time..no recipe needed for this Biscuit Lady. As a matter of fact, you give me a box cake to make and it will fall flat every time!! Just let ME mix!!
Our menu is forever changing. I try new biscuits all the time and work with whatever I have on hand. Some would love something more concrete on what I'm having each day..to that I say this.. I would also ❤️ to be more concrete on my menu!! But what's the fun in that!? I'm a sole baker, 2 hands and I bake what I can, as I can. I usually stop baking by 11:30am each day. When you walk in our shop, whatever is on the shelf is what's available. I'm a small gourmet biscuit shop, it's a first for Mississippi to have a shop that only serves biscuits. I'm not a large operation teaching others to make my product. I'm okay with this. I bake what I can and enjoy every.single.moment. My best suggestion is come early . Sometimes that means 8am is too late..but hang around for whatever is coming out of the oven next. You never want to miss a hot biscuit.
How do I order?
We do accept orders of 2 dozen or more, Tuesday - Friday. Orders must be biscuits I am baking that particular day. Pre orders must be paid in advance via Paypal Invoice or in store payment. We do not hold biscuits!! This is not fair to those standing in the shop waiting their turn. Occasionally I am able to do Saturday orders. Just ask me, Michelle Tehan, if I'm not able to do it I'll tell you.
