It is our view that somewhere in the world, some community is using an innovative approach to solve the very same problems we face in South Carolina.
Our job is to study these ideas, learn what makes them work, and adapt them to the needs of our communities.
At the Palmetto Project, we believe that South Carolinians have within themselves the imagination and determination to realize the full potential of our state.
The Palmetto Project is a statewide, non-profit organization with its principal corporate offices in Charleston and Columbia. Its mission is to put innovative ideas to work solving social and economic problems in South Carolina. Its Board, comprised of religious, education, civic, and business leaders, believe that every problem in South Carolina is being addressed successfully by some community, somewhere in the world.
The Palmetto Project finds and adapts these solutions to the unique needs of communities in our state. The mission of the Palmetto Project is focused in five areas: (1) health care and access, (2) race relations, (3) families & schools, (4) economic development, and (5) civic participation.
