Topanga Rugs was founded by Barry Hornig, international collector of textiles, and an authority on weavings and carpets from central Asia and Europe.

I have traveled extensively through Afghanistan (Masar-i Sharif), Pakistan (pre-Taliban), Spain, Morocco and South America. A native of New York City, I’ve been able to combine my love of travel with my knowledge of Central Asian textiles and kilims. I was a real estate broker who started a rug factory in Afghanistan in the 1970’s. I’ve had the privilege and the pleasure of working with top interior designers, such as Albert Hadley, Mark Hampton and Angelo Donghia, and have considerable clientele in the entertainment sector.

I am available to find that hard-to-find size and color with my extensive connections. I basically just need a photo of the fabric and a brief description of textures -- and I can find it!

I also do appraisals and museum-quality repairs, restoration and cleaning.
