Special Olympics New York's mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community. Through their participation in Special Olympics New York athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image, which carries into the classroom, the home, the workplace and the community.

Special Olympics New York has 61,582 athletes training and competing year-round in 22 Olympic-style sports. Our athletes and our caregivers are NEVER CHARGED to participate! It costs $400 to support training and competition for one athlete for one sports season.

Polar Plunge is a unique, wacky experience that you’ll never forget! Raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics New York by asking your family, friends, co-workers, etc. to support your efforts. Then, take a dip or a slow crawl into the chilly waters! Every Plunger that raises $125 receives an official Plunge sweatshirt, raise more money and receive more great prizes!
