Transylvania County's compassionate source for food, clothing and financial assistance for those in need.

Sharing House was born thirty-two years ago, out of faithful hearts who took the command to “love our neighbors as ourselves” seriously. Sharing House is a place where compassion and crisis assistance is offered for those neighbors in Transylvania County who find themselves in dire need. We are a faith-based organization, financially supported by over 40 congregations and hundreds of caring individuals and business partners, whose sole mission is to see that every person has the basic necessities for daily life. Serving our neighbors with respect and dignity, we give away food and fresh produce to those who would otherwise go hungry. We help those with rent and utility bills from being disconnected. We give aide to those whose heating costs cannot be met on their own. Our trained and dedicated volunteers hold to high standards of confidentiality and fairness.

At Sharing House, we are a family of neighbors who believe in the sacred worth of all of God’s people. We are bold enough to dream of ways to best meet the crisis that always arise in community. How we take care of one another in the beloved community is a sign of God’s grace living and relating among us. Thanks be to God!
